Helping families,
businesses, and
governments transform
for what's next.
I'm a futurist, speaker, and advisor. I help family offices, businesses, and governments see where the world is headed, and make smart moves before everyone else catches up, across real estate, gold, art, and new opportunities like crypto. I'm based in Bahrain, and my family owns businesses and property in eight different countries. I was also one of the first people in the Middle East to invest heavily in Bitcoin, back in 2011, which is how I got the nickname "Arab Crypto Whale."
What a family office, government, or UHNI actually gets from the call.
I hear the same question from every new principal: why me, and not a fund or a generalist advisor? Here's the honest answer.
Cycle-tested, not cycle-chasing
I've been through four full boom-bust cycles since 2011, conviction earned through survivorship, not theory.
A bridge between two worlds
I'm as fluent in real estate, gold, and banking relationships as I am in bitcoin and blockchain, a rare dual footing.
Discretion as the product
I work through confidential advisory and majlis-level relationships, with no public client list to manage.
Forward visibility on policy
Direct government advisory on crypto and AI regulation gives me and my clients early signal ahead of public rule-making.
Access to Islamic capital
My role in the Shariah scholar dialogue on bitcoin opened a pool of compliant capital most allocators can't reach.
A financier's route into digital assets.
I built my career in family-office structuring and real estate finance. My family offices hold investments across eight countries, spanning banking, pharmaceuticals, real estate, and public companies, backed by relationships with institutional lenders and sovereign and ultra-high-net-worth capital.
My entrepreneurial path started earlier: I founded GoBabu.com, a Canadian ethnic-focused daily-deals site, which was acquired by Buytopia.ca, co-founded by Michele Romanow, later a "Dragon" on CBC's Dragons' Den. That exit freed me to move fully into digital assets, buying meaningfully into bitcoin in 2011. As one of the largest and earliest holders of bitcoin in the Middle East, Asia, and Africa, I became widely known across blockchain and Web3 circles as the "Arab Crypto Whale," a prolific investor in and supporter of crypto companies across the space, an avid supporter of the Bitcoin Core developer community, and a regular voice at industry conferences and summits.
"The rationale for a decentralized, inflation-resilient, and instantly verifiable means of exchange appealed to me from the start."
I serve as a confidential advisor to ultra-high-net-worth investors, typically those with $1 billion or more in investable cash, on digital assets and alternative investments. As a Progressive Muslim, I was instrumental in engaging Shariah scholars on the question of bitcoin's permissibility, helping steer the conversation away from a ruling of haram. Beyond public markets, I work confidentially, advising governments on cross-border policy, cryptocurrency regulation, and AI governance frameworks. Through IBC Group, I also backed Acumen Advertising, a longstanding Dubai communications agency, alongside the prominent Al Nabooda family.
I'm proud to be from a Gujarati Ismaili family, part of the Aga Khan Ismaili community, an upbringing reflected in my long involvement with the Aga Khan Museum and interfaith work. I'm a regular speaker at family office conferences, the Milken Institute Middle East and Africa Summit, and the World Economic Forum in Davos, and hold confidential majlis with Royal Highnesses across multiple countries.
Over years on the conference circuit, I've shared the stage or had direct discussions with figures including Changpeng Zhao (Binance) and Justin Sun (Tron) at multiple events, most recently at Bitcoin MENA 2024 in Abu Dhabi, and with Adam Back (Blockstream) and Charles Hoskinson (Cardano) at Consensus Miami 2026. I was also part of the launch of Ethereum's Proof-of-Stake Beacon Chain in 2020, announcing a $10 million (roughly 20,000 ETH) commitment to the genesis event alongside Vitalik Buterin, who contributed to the same launch. I'm active in bitcoin community ecosystems across multiple countries, including Bitcoin Bay in Toronto and the Canadian Blockchain Consortium.
A father of three, my children attended Dubai American Academy in Al Barsha, Dubai (a GEMS Education school) before moving to the American School of Bahrain.
I'm candid about the setbacks along the way, including losing a considerable amount of bitcoin in the 2019 collapse of QuadrigaCX, Canada's largest crypto exchange at the time, a lesson in counterparty risk that shaped my later insistence on self-custody and institutional-grade custody practices.
